PUBLICATION PRINCIPLES

General Rules

1. Studies of The Ottoman Domain is an international e-journal that aims to search the structure, shape and the decisive affects of administration, sociality, economy, humanity and cultural events, occured on the ex Ottoman soverinity with the methodology and the scientific way driven from the angle of History, Geography and Literature.

2. The articles, represented in the journal be issued twice in a year on a web based electronic journal as an semiannual (in February and in August).

3. Authors who seek to publish their article within the journal has to enter in to the new member login system, appears on the journal’s web site (http://www.thestudiesofottomandomain.com/eng/). After being one of the new member of the journal the authors may install their article following the instruction, appears on the screen aftermath of entering with the member login (admin) and the secret code. These admin names and the secret codes, given while shaping the new member file via the applicants e-mail should keep in private and protect during the publication process of their article.

4. Aftermath of installing the papers by its authors, all papers will be scrutinized and checked by the secretarial board of the journal, fallowing the publication instructions.  The papers that being evaluated as unsatisfactory and inadequate to the writing process would be returned to its owner to re-checked and re-install the corrected paper ones more.

5. Aftermath of the final check process, performed by secretarial board, the articles be diverted to the editors of History, Turkology and Geography in order to being entered into the referee process. The secretarial board of the journal posses the right of shifting the referee, if the appointed referee cannot complete their report within 15 days.

6. The articles, diverted to related field editors are evaluated within the angle of their scientific responsibilities. Meanwhile the secretarial board of the journal search and check the articles with the help of “Viper” and “Plagium” Plagiarism Detection Programs.

7. If any occurrence appears on plagiarism within the articles, sent to the journal. The articles, contain any kind of plagiarism will be rejected and the authors are listed in the black-list of the journal not to accept any of their applications in future.

8. Studies of The Ottoman Domain possess the usufruct of the paper, install in to the journals’ web to publish or not to do so.

9. Studies of The Ottoman Domain reserves the right to change the titles of the articles if it is necessary.

10. The submitted articles, install in to “The Article Searching Process” of the web site of the journal of Studies of the Ottoman Domain ought not to be longer than 10,000 words including abstract, footnotes, bibliography and appendices.

11. Over all number of quoted citations in the articles shall not exceed 10% of the article text, including abstract, footnotes, bibliography and appendices.

12. Studies of The Ottoman Domain regards the authors application as an approval to enter the publishing process. The Journal reserves the right to publish or reject submitted articles. It does not pay any royalty to its authors. The authors accept that their submitted work is in compliance with copyright laws, and their work does not defame any person or a group, or invade their privacy. Authors are legally responsible for the content of their work in case their work is found in violation of Turkish or International Laws. Authors are responsible to pay legal fees and expenses if their work causes any legal action.

14. Authors are hold responsible to obtain all the legal permits, requires for the tables, photos or quotations within their text prior to their article, being published.

15.  All articles submitted to Studies of The Ottoman Domain go through double blind-peer review. The SOTOD pays utmost attention to make sure the process is completed without reviewers and authors don't know each other. Authors should not specify their name, title or institute within the paper that having installed in to the journal “Article Fallowing System”, appears on the web site of the journal so that the referees act objective during the evaluation process. The records of who entered in to the “Article Fallowing System” are already known by the board of the secretaries of the journal. If the submitted article decided to be published after completing the publication referee process; the secretarial board of the journal will finally include the author’s needed identification to the accepted paper.

16. Authors can fallow and learn that their works are on which stage (if accepted, on the referee, need correction etc.) by using the admin and the code, provided to them via mail during their submission to the journal on the panel of “Article Fallowing System”.

17. Studies of The Ottoman Domain publishes the approved articles, install into the journal “Article Fallowing System” panel in the order it received.

18. According to the publication regulations of Studies of The Ottoman Domain the articles, appears on the journal can be reached, read and even download without any delay or obstacles. The usufructs of the articles to benefit commercially are belonging to the permission of both authors and editorial boards of the journal.

19. Studies of The Ottoman Domain is an open access journal which means that all content is  free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution, and the only role for copyright in this domain, should be to give authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledge and cited.

20. For all submissions, the Chief Editor is the final authority in the decision-making process

Rules and Suggestions for the Spelling

1. The articles should be prepared according to the fallowing rules, suggestions and indications, appear on the journal site. First of all authors have to create a new membership via the link of the journal: http://www.thestudiesofottomandomain.com/eng/uye.html and after being member they enter into the system by using admin and code provided during the application process. When they entered into the “Article Fallowing Process” they have to install their article on the panel via using the button of installment. These articles, has not fixed with the spelling process of the journal will not be taking into consideration.

2. You can submit your articles by entering your admin and password through the “Submit Manuscript” link on the main panel: http://www.thestudiesofottomandomain.com/uye.html  (use the drop-down box to select your language preference). You will be notified by email to your registered mail when all referee comments are available. You may then review the referee comments through the same link. PLEASE NOTE: Because you are allowed to edit the corrections one time only, you must wait until all referees submit their comments before editing your corrections.

2. The page numbers and sub or upper information space should not fix to the articles.

3. The setting of the content in the articles should be as follows: Turkish title, English title, Turkish abstract and key words, English abstract and keywords, main text, conclusion, bibliography, and appendices if any (maps, figures, etc.). Abstracts should be no more than 200 words long for each language and the keywords should be embodied with 5 words.

4. Charts, Schema, Statistics, Graphics must be 300 (dpi) in density. The Charts, Schema, Statistics, Graphics has to be sent to our mail due to the urgent necessities during the publishing process.

5. All articles have to be written with footnotes. All sources and cites, cited within the article must be depicted decisively within the Bibliography of the article. Footnotes should be given after the sentence.

6. Any kind of charts, Schema, Statistics, Graphics that exceed over one page size must be affixed to the appendix.

7. The main Turkish and English title must be written in capital and bold. Subtitles should be written in lower case, except the first letters.

8. In footnotes please follow “Name, Surname” order. In bibliography follow “Surname, Name” order while giving your arbitrations.

9. The initial letters of Authors name or names should be written in capital. All of the letters of the surname must be written in capital.

Rules For The Quotation

1. The Quoted Texts

All quotations must be given within the quotation marks before ending the sentence.

a.Limited Quotations Within the Text

Limited quotations must be represent with one quotation mark at the beginning and the at the end of the quotation.

b.Whole Quotations

The quotations, exceed over 40 words must be written with 10 punto and replace the “whole quotation” into the text allowing it 5cm gaps from left, 4 cm gaps from right of the corners of the paper (A4).

2.Short Notice and Footnotes

a.Short Notice About The Text

Bibliography that was cited within the text must be indicated with the sequenced numbers as 1. and its sequences at the footnote. The citations must be represented at the ending of the sentence of the main text that contains any citations as in sequenced order starts with 1 and its fallowing. All citations within the footnote must be gather in alphabetic order and enlisted at the end of the text as bibliography. The declarations, curriculum vitas, abbreviations and personal comments must be depicted with “star button” as * and should not be represented in the bibliography.

b. Tablo ve Şekiller

All charts and images within the text must be numerated in sequence order and declared as (Chart 1 or Image 1) before or after the charts or images. Within the chart and images; their short introductions must be also given as appropriate title that fixed with the related charts or images.

c.Regulations for Footnotes and Bibliography

The citation, in the main text must be given in the footnotes with only related page of citation. However all citations must be represented with total number of the books’ or articles’ pages. The rest of the citation, either within the footnotes or in the bibliography must be complete as it was depicted in the examples, takes place blow.

If the work will be used for the second time in the footnote, after the first letters of the author's name and surname, abbreviations such as m.w. (mentioned work, italics), m.a. (mentioned article), m.t. (mentioned thesis) are used.
